Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge?

See Home page for pricing. Initial touch-up (within 4-6 weeks) is not included in the price of the initial procedure.

How do I book an appointment?

Please contact me via email or through the "contact" page to book an appointment. Upon booking, I require a $100, non-refundable deposit. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

How long does the procedure take?

Depends on which procedure is done. Microblading takes around 2.5-3 hours. Full shading (powder ombre) takes 3-3.5 hours. Combo brows (microblading and shading) takes 3.5-4 hours.  Most of the time is spent during the consultation, when the brows are shaped and the colour is chosen.

How long does microblading/shading last?

Your brows should last anytime between 1-3 years (after the initial touch-up) depending on your skin type. The pigment will fade over time. Clients who would like to maintain a more vivid colour will likely need a touch up within 8-12 months. Drier skin will not fade brows as quickly as oilier skin. Do not use exfoliating treatments or fade creams on the area if you would like the results to last longer.

What will my brows look like after the initial session?

Pigment will feel dark and area may be a bit swollen. The colour will fade 20-40% in the first 7-10 days. It is common for the hair strokes to look more solid as they heal. There will be a peeling period where the brows may look uneven for a few days. Itchiness and uneven pigment retention after the initial procedure is completely normal. When the brows have peeled, the colour might be very light and/or greyish. Within 2-3 weeks, the colour will come back, and this is when it is a good time to come in for a touch-up.

What are the aftercare instructions?

The day of the treatment:
Gently blot the area with clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this for the full day
until any potential oozing has stopped (not everyone experiences it). Removing this fluid
prevents hardening of the lymph.
Days 1-7:
Wash daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don't worry....THIS DOES NOT REMOVE
THE PIGMENT!) Gently and with a very light touch, wash your eyebrows each morning and
night with your finger tips, water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil or
Neutrogena. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring
that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue or soft towel. DO NOT use
any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.
Days 1-7
Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab and spread it across the
treated area in the morning, afternoon if the brows are dry and before bed. It. Be sure not to
over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely
noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.
Important Reminders:
Use a fresh pillowcase Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can
cause scarring or loss of color. If a scab falls off and the pigment disappears, don’t worry, it
will re-appear within the week.
No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks. Avoid hot, sweaty
exercise for one week Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure.
Wear a hat when outdoors. Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.
Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first
10 days Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area DO NOT rub, pick or scratch
the treated area.
Important note about showering:
Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your
face/procedure out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower,
wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very end of the shower. Avoid
excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area. Putting a thin layer of ointment on
brows before showering is recommended.
Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine you will have much better results with
your semi-permanent brow procedure.
*individual results may vary, depending on skin, and proper aftercare*

When will I need a touch-up?

Touch-ups are recommended 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment.

Why is a touch-up necessary?

Permanent makeup procedures are rarely perfect after the first procedure, which is why a touch up is mandatory for great results. Your brows may heal patchy after the initial treatment. This is dependent on how your skin heals, and how well you followed instructions after your initial session. If you would like to darken the colour or change the thickness or shape, this can be done during the touch-up session. Please be advised that certain clients require additional touch ups, depending on their skin type and lifestyle.

How long will the touch-up session take?

Touch-up sessions will take around 1-2.5 hours depending on how much work is required.

Do you reuse your microblading needles?

Absolutely not. I use a new blade which is sterilized with gamma rays for each client and thoroughly sanitize the area before and after each session.

Do you have your Blood Borne Pathogens certification?

Yes, I have obtained certification from the Canadian Red Cross.

Are you operating within Health Canada guidelines?

Yes, I have obtained a PASS status with BodySafe Health Canada guidelines and continue to request inspections on a yearly basis.

Are you certified as a microblading technician?

Yes, I have obtained my certification and training as a microblading technician through Master Hau Nguyen (@microblading_haunguyen) and was trained in LA at Fuzion Artistry (@fuzionartistry). I obtained my microshading (powder ombre/combo brows) training from Linnie Phan (@browsbylinnie).

Are you insured?

Yes, I am insured. Documentation is available upon request.

Are there any conditions that may preclude me from getting my eyebrows microbladed?

Please consider the following before proceeding with your microblading appointment:

_ a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring

     _ are pregnant or nursing

     _ are diabetic

     _ a smoker of cigarettes

     _ have an autoimmune disease

_ are currently having chemotherapy (consult your doctor)

_ have the flu, a cold, or a history of cold sores around the eye area, or a disease

_ have a pacemaker or heart disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, poor general health

     _ are epileptic

_ have had Botox in the past two months or Accutane in the past year

_ are currently on blood thinners

_ are allergic to latex/powder in gloves

_ have had laser tattoo removal on eyebrow area

_ have excessively oily skin, tan, exercise, use anti-aging products, Retinol/Retin A/ type products, regular chemical peels, laser peels, aqua facials

If you've answered yes to any of these, we will have to discuss further.

Is there anything I can do to prepare for my appointment?

Yes. Please refrain from drinking alcohol or taking any blood thinning medication 48 hours prior to the appointment. Please refrain from drinking caffeine 24 hours prior to the appointment. This is VERY important, as this may cause you to bleed excessively, which negatively affects the retention of the pigment in your skin. You may resume taking these blood thinners, caffeine, and alcohol AFTER the appointment.

Can I have microblading done if I've had an eyebrow tattoo done in the past?

Yes, however, results will not be the same. Your brows may appear darker overall as compared to clients who have not previously had an eyebrow tattoo. The shape and thickness of your eyebrow can definitely be changed. For cover-ups, I would advise full shading, as a colour correction is normally required. I will only do microblading cover-ups on previous work that has significantly faded. Please send me a picture of your current eyebrows if you would like to book an appointment.

Why is microblading so expensive?

Microblading is a work of art and can drastically change the appearance of your face. Having a beautiful set of eyebrows that frame your eyes perfectly makes a huge difference in harmonizing your facial features and gives you added confidence. It will also save you a lot of time, energy, and money. Imagine the freedom of never having to worry about filling in your eyebrows before leaving the house, going for a swim, or sweating at the gym! The average luxury brow pencil and tint costs $30/month. That's $360 a year and $1080 saved in 3 years! Microblading is truly life changing and extremely low maintenance!
